Jeder Aufbruch zur Hochebene ist immer auch eine Reise mit offenem Ausgang. Die Berliner Sängerin Lea W. Frey macht sich auf ihrem dritten Album Plateaus, das am 06.10.2017 bei enja / yellowbird veröffentlicht wird, auf die Reise. Mit dabei: ihre Band bestehend aus Peter und Bernhard Meyer an Gitarre und Bass, Andi Haberl (The Notwist) am Schlagzeug und der Wahlberlinerin Liz Kosack an den Keyboards. Im Gepäck: zehn brandneue, selbst komponierte Songs gemischt von Olaf Opal, die von Gentrifizierung, Klimawandel und der Liebe erzählen. Wer die kristallin verstiegenen Jazz-Versionen bekannter Popsongs unterschiedlichster Provenienz von „Running Up That Hill“ (Kate Bush) bis zu „The Man Who Sold The World“ (David Bowie) oder „A Forest“ (The Cure) auf Lea W. Freys bisherigen Alben We Can’t Rewind (2011) und How Soon Is Now (2013) kennt, wird von der massiven Physis auf Plateaus überrascht sein. Ihr glasklarer, obertonreicher Gesang schwebt nicht mehr ausschließlich über den Soundteppich ihrer Mitmusiker hinweg, sondern fädelt sich zwischen den grandios verschmolzenen, scheinbar gegensätzlichen Schichten und Sphären der Musik hindurch. Ihre Stimme ist größer geworden, und so brauchte sie auch eine größere Band. Haberls zyklische Drum-Figuren erinnern nicht selten an den jüngst verstorbenen CAN-Drummer Jaki Liebezeit, Liz Kosacks halluzinogene Keyboard-Schwaden verstärken diesen Krautrock-Aspekt zusehends. Irgendwo in der Stratosphäre mit CAN, Sun Ra, Portishead und Sonic Youth vereint findet sich die Band in einem Prozess wieder, in denen Fragen der künstlerischen Kontrolle überhaupt keine Rolle mehr spielen. Wie bereits in ihren Konzerten, so breiten sich auch auf der CD rituelle Energie und magische Klangströme über die Wahrnehmung ins Nervensystem des Hörers aus. Dabei ist Plateaus alles andere als eine Abkehr vom Jazz, findet Lea W. Frey. „Mein Leben führt ja sowieso schon immer zwischen den Aspekten Jazz, Klassik, Pop und Rock hin und her. Ich habe mich an den verschiedenen Stilistiken abgerieben und durch das Loslassen von Überflüssigem meine eigene Mitte gefunden. Die Stücke sind ausnahmslos aufgrund von Improvisation entstanden. Wäre Jazz kein Teil meines Lebens, wäre das so sicher nicht gekommen.“ Plateaus ist ein kraftvoller Neuanfang und somit auch für jeden Hörer eine gute Möglichkeit zum Neueinstieg und doch passiert bei Lea W. Frey nichts nur um seiner selbst Willen. Vereinfacht könnten wir den Prozess wie folgt beschreiben: Lea W. Frey hat auf ihren ersten beiden Alben bekannte Pop-Titel in eine sehr persönliche Jazzwelt übersetzt, jetzt schreibt sie ihre eigenen Songs und trägt ihre Erfahrungen mit dem Jazz zurück in eine komplexe Welt zwischen Indie-Rock und elektronischer Klangerfahrung. "Come Home" der erste Song daraus, wird als Video erscheinen. Mädchen, die auf Feldern liegend, in den Himmel schauen, Tiere, die unsere Freunde sind. Ganz so einfach ist es nicht - dies und den Zauber von Tautropfen und sich verlierenden Tagträumen besingt Lea W. [/av_textblock] [av_textblock size='' font_color='' color=''] Die Geschichte von Daniel Freitag könnte man wohl als die eines Rastlosen bezeichnen. Zumindest hat der junge Sänger und Songwriter bereits einen beachtlichen Weg hinter sich. Mit seiner ersten Band aus der ostwestfälischen Provinz hin ins Berliner Tempodrom, von dort als Komponist in die Theater der Welt und wieder zurück zu seinen Wurzeln als Songwriter und Produzent. Die Rastlosigkeit und den Drang in die Ferne spürt man in Daniel Freitags erster Single „This Is How It Started“ - ein Vorgeschmack auf das im Herbst 2017 erscheinende Debütalbum. Mit analogem Sound und opulenten Arrangements malt der Berliner Multiinstrumentalist eine fesselnde Szenerie, die einem Western-Soundtrack entsprungen sein könnte. Inspiriert vom Verve des Breitwand-Kinos trifft hier brodelndes Schlagzeugspiel auf verwegenen Kontrabass, Morricone-artige Gitarren duellieren sich mit verstaubten Analog-Synthesizern. An jeder Ecke wittert man Gefahr. Mit einem eindringlichen, fast lakonischen Gesang entwirft Freitag Bilder der Bedrängnis, dann der Ausbruch mit der Textzeile „Don't you wonder how boring our fears have become“. Angst trifft auf Herausforderung trifft auf heißen Wüstenwind. Aufgenommen hat Daniel Freitag „This Is How It Started“ wie sein gesamtes Debut in Eigenregie. Michael Haves („Super700“) beteiligte sich als Co-Produzent und Mixer. Beratend zur Seite stand Olaf Opal, der bereits Alben von The Notwist und Die Sterne veredelte. Für die Einspielung der Songs konnte Freitag außerdem Musiker aus der Berliner Jazz-Szene gewinnen. Gemeinsam entstand mit dem Album ein energiegeladener Ritt, vorbei an den Untiefen des verbrauchten Indie-Pops unserer Zeit und damit ein emanzipierter Entwurf, wie scharfsinnige Musik heute klingen kann. Zum Song wird es im Sommer ein Video geben. Das Rüstzeug zum Musiker und Produzenten hat sich Daniel Freitag selbst angeeignet. Noch in der Schulzeit richtete er sich im heimischen Keller ein erstes Studio ein, erlernte jedes Instrument, das ihm in die Finger kam und begann so seinen eigenen Sound zu finden. Nach dem Studium der Musikwissenschaft fand Freitag durch Zufall ans Theater. Genauer an die Berliner Schaubühne, wo er sich bei Regisseuren wie Thomas Ostermeier oder Ivo van Hove für die Musik ihrer Produktionen verantwortlich zeichnete und mit ihnen die Theaterbühnen dieser Welt bereiste. Er sang mit Sandra Hüller („Toni Erdmann“) in München, probte mit Juliette Binoche in London und musste sich überlegen, wie man eine Szene musikalisch gestaltet, in der sich Schauspielerstar Lars Eidinger Würstchen in den Allerwertesten schiebt. Darüber hinaus arbeitete er am neuen Album von Johanna Borchert (Jazz-Echo 2015) mit und schreibt Musik für Film-Regisseure wie Vincent Dieutre („Jaurès“) und Kirill Serebrennikov („Der Student“). Dirty Heads, die kalifornische Reggae- /Pop- & Hiphop-Band veröffentlichen das Video zu ihrer aktuellen Single „Vacation“ auf Five Seven Gropu und läuten damit gleichzeitig die anstehende Veröffentlichung ihres neuen Albums im Herbst ein. Wie der Songtitel schon unmissverständlich zu verstehen gibt, steht hier die schönste Zeit des Jahres im Fokus. Sobald die ersten Takte erklingen, versprüht er eine derartig große Welle an Urlaubsfeeling, dass man sich dem Vibe von Strand und Sonne unmöglich entziehen kann! Hierzulande eher noch ein Geheimtipp, erfinden die Jungs von Dirty Heads, Jared “Dirty J” Watson, Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell, Jon Olazabal, Matt Ochoa und David Foral seit 2003 den südkalifornischen Sound zusammen neu, indem sie eine Mischung aus Pop, Hip-Hop, Reggea und Rock kreieren. 2008 erschien ihr Debütalbum „Any Point In A“ und die „Single Lay Me Down“ hielt sich elf Wochen lang auf Platz eins der Billboard Alternative Charts – länger als jede andere Single in diesem Jahr. Mit Hymnen wie „Oxygen“ und „That's All I Need“ überzeugten sie 2016. Mit ihrem neuen Song „Vacation“ erreichen sie aktuell auf Spotify #14 – Global Viral 50. Das riecht förmlich nach einem neuen Hit. Geschrieben und aufgenommen haben die fünf Jungs von Dirty Heads „Vacation“ zwischen ihrer Heimatstadt in Orange County und Los Angeles mit einer handvoll Unterstützern. Produziert wurde „Vacation“ vom dänischen Hit-Garant Jonas Jeberg (Nicky Minaj, Juicy J, Demi Levato). Inhaltlich ist der Song all jenen gewidmet, die mit sich selbst und dem was sie im Leben tun so zufrieden sind, dass sie jeden Tag in vollen Zügen genießen und sich dabei auf einer stetigen Welle von Glück und Wohlbefinden treiben lassen - so die passende Zeile innerhalb des Refrains: “Hey I’m on vacation every single day cuz I love my occupation”. Anfang Mai veröffentlichte das Berliner Duo La Tourette „The Great Mickey Mouse Swindle“ auf Solaris Empire. Jetzt feiert das neue Video zu „Grime“ Premiere! „Show me someone who never to part in a grime.“ heißt es in dem berührenden Song, der durch die soulige tiefe Stimme von Tonia Reeh getragen wird und Rudi Fischerlehners sensiblem Schlagzeugspiel lebt. Veredelt wurde „Grime“ von dem großartigen Trompeter, Komponist und Klangkünstler Paul Brody, der dem Song eine verträumt jazzige Stimmung verleiht. Das Video zu „Grime“ ist die Fortsetzung von „Entblindung“., indem sie Auf Abenteuer- und Entdeckungsreise gehen.
La Tourette sind die Berliner Indie Größe Tonia Reeh (Monotekktoni, Masonne) an Gesang und Piano
und Rudi Fischerlehner (Olaf Rupp, Fiium Shaarrk, Gorilla Mask), der in der Berliner Jazz und Experimental Szene zu Hause ist, am Schlagzeug. Anfang Mai veröffentlichten sie ihr Album „The Great Mickey Mouse Swindle“ auf Solaris Empire.
Oft wurde Tonia Reehs Stil mit Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls), PJ Harvey oder Diamanda Galas verglichen. Sie veröffentlichte bereits zwei eindrucksvolle Pianoalben auf dem Hamburg Label Clouds Hill. Ausgehend von der Idee, einige der Percussion Effekte auch live umzusetzen, ließ die beiden zusammenführen. So beeinflusste Fischerlehners unorthodoxes und sensibles Spiel den Sound des Duos zunehmend und veränderte ihn in etwas aufregend Frisches – es wurde Zeit zu erkennen, dass sich das Solo Projekt mit Begleitung in eine Band verwandelt hatte – La Tourette.
Auf dem ersten gemeinsamen Album „The Great Mickey Mouse Swindle" erschaffen sie ein dynamisches Klang-Universum, das von Tonias
virtuosem Klavierspiel, ihrer ausdrucksstarken Stimme, großartigen Lyrics und Rudis filigranem und experimentellen Schlagzeugspiel lebt.

Die Kultband der Begründer Blaine L. Reiniger und Steven Brown können mittlerweile auf 40 Jahre bewegte Bandgeschichte zurückblicken. Tuxedomoon schrieben Hymnen für die Ewigkeit wie „No Tears“ und „In A Manner Of Speaking“, veröffentlichten Alben wie „Half Mute“ und „Desire“ sowie zahlreiche Singles, die zu Meilensteinen der Musikgeschichte wurden. 2015 veröffentlichten sie auf Crammed eine Ltd. Vinyl-Box, die schon jetzt als Rarität gilt. In ihrer Kreativität waren Tuxedomoon grenzenlos und blieben bis heute künstlerisch unberechenbar. So schrieben sie die Filmmusik zu Wim Wenders „Himmel über Berlin“ und 2015 mit Cult With No Name zu „Blue Velvet Revisited“ von Peter Baatz. In ihrem avantgardistischen Schaffensreichtum kreierten sie Videos, Visuals und Special Effekte auf ihren Live-Shows, die noch heute vielen Bands und Videokünstlern als Inspiration dienen. Konzerte von Tuxedomoon sind ein einziger Rausch und für die Fans pure Droge. In alle Himmelsrichtung verstreut, formiert sich die Band am 10.08.2017 in Berlin im Festsaal Kreuzberg zu einem Konzert.
